just for the heck of it

Despite my nervousness and awkwardness, I asked someone who I had met in a previous class at UMBC to sit for me at the studio at school. It wasn't for a project or anything, I just wanted to get in the lighting studio and mess around and possibly get ready for next semester when I'm taking lighting again (last time was at AACC).

Josie ruled, and I wish we had more time to shoot more. But here are a few shots from Monday night.

Of course after she left I had more ideas, but oh well, next time?

Caitlin Mae Murphy

I got together with one of my forever-long bestie and took some pictures for her Graduation Announcements, and some head shots for any auditions she may want to go to.

I'm really proud of her, and was really pleased and honored to take them. Hopefully I can get some more when we have more time. Golden West Cafe sounded too good and we ended up cutting our shoot time pretty short.

I finally got to use my 50mm 1.8 lens again.

About to get ready for work, and then I have a hot date tonight :) It'll be nice to relax before a long weekend.

gotta make sure you have back up

Since my external hard-drive died, I've been constantly burning everything on my computer onto cds/dvds. Until I can afford to see if someone can get my HD to spin and recover the data, I kind of just have to keep praying it will be possible. I can't even start to explain how I feel about it. It's like someone took everything I have ever had away from me. I know that sounds super dramatic, and of course that's not what happened, but seriously, 90% of the photography, memories, journaling, pictures of events, applications, old coversations and emails and all my recordings and music from 2005-2010... gone.

I do have bits and pieces backed up on discs and ofcourse on facebook and flickr, but its still not the full resolution and doesn't amount, though I am thankful for at most that.

All things are possible.

Anywho, I found my old 40 gb external is working again and am backing up everything on my computer on it, and on dvds just incase it dies. So this is positive.

On another note, I have my last night at Fridays in Towson tonight, and start next week at Tech Lab. My weekend job shooting little league baseball is going well, but it did prevent me from working at Trader Joes when they offered me a position this morning. Oh well, maybe this fall?

I woke up early and shot some engagement photos of my friend Tony and his fiance before the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC a few weeks ago, and am almost done editing them. Here are a few.

despite distractions...

Despite all of the distractions lately, I pushed myself to try and complete an assignment for my Digital Darkroom Class. The assignment consisted of reenacting one important time in your life, and I chose to reenact this time of my life, where I'm trying to find things about myself and my life that I want to better understand and better in general. I decided to place words or phrases in scenarios that could possibly help describe what I want to work on with myself. They also had to be converted to Black and White.

I'm honestly not very satisfied with a lot of my images... but possibly I can re-do them today.

Here are just a few.

hop hop alonggg.

I had the pleasure of getting invited by Elyce to go see Hop Along at The Hexagon and meet up with some friends. I had only heard the full band recordings on myspace, but listened to it enough that I recognized some songs at the show. Definitely was the most packed I have ever seen it at The Hexagon. It was a lot of fun!

I only had my phone and my little samsung point and shoot, so here are a few photos.

Priscilla Ahn

I came across Priscilla Ahn while I was on Youtube searching for William Fitszimmons videos that I liked. I never knew who the beautiful voice was on his song "I Don't Feel It Anymore" on The Sparrow and The Crow. She truly writes beautifully and I love the video I found of her song "Living In A Tree" by JMLA in Los Angeles.

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

I'm curious to know if she is using a loop or delay or reverb pedal at the end of the video, or if they just overlapped audio on the video. Whichever way it was done, I really was into it. I feel it brought a lot of power into the song.

Pushing.

I've come to realize quite a few changes I want to make in myself, and one of them is pushing myself more in my work. My professor made a good point in class last week when he said that when he was in college he would just do work to get it done and get a grade, and that he wanted us to not do that. We should be trying to get portfolio pieces out of our class assignments.

So soon I will be working on a series about the goals I want to reach, and things I want to change and improve in my relationships, personality and life in general. I'm pretty stoked to be excited about an assignment.

but for now... here are some old photographs from a January 2010 roll of film that I shot with my Minolta point-and-shoot that got stolen the other night. Luckily I got this roll out before hand!

fresh.

Hello all,

I decided to take advantage of my new gmail account and start fresh. I'm hoping to keep it updated with photographs and things I'm working on in school or personally. Since I moved to Baltimore I've been more inspired and have been trying to push myself to continue shooting and being creative and would love input if anyone feels compelled.
